1. Where to obtain Visa On Arrival to Vietnam

Visa on arrival for Vietnam is granted at the following airports:

Northern Vietnam:

Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) (Hanoi)
Cat Bi International Airport (HPH) (Hai Phong)

Central Vietnam:

Da Nang International Airport (DAD) (Da Nang)

Southern Vietnam:

Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR) (Khanh Hoa)
Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) (Ho Chi Minh City)

2. Who are eligible

Visa On Arrival for Vietnam can be applied by those from all nationalities, but it must be certain requirements as follows:

For a tourist visa, application must be made through a travel agent like Vietnam-visa.
Business visas require sponsorship from a Vietnamese company where the applicant will be employed.

3. How long for VOA validity

It would depend on visa type as follow:

- Tourist Visa:

Up to 30 days, depending on nationality and travel itinerary
Single entry
Cannot be extended

- Business Visa:

Up to 3 months
Single/multiple entry
Can be extended ONCE with sponsor from the same company

4. Requirement to apply

Getting a visa on arrival for Vietnam has been made more difficult after COVID, and its requirements also depend on the visa type, as follows:

- Tourist Visa: Sponsorship from a tour operator in Vietnam Visa approval letter

- Business Visa: Sponsorship from a company in Vietnam where you will work after entering the country.

5. How to apply

Apply online for your approval letter. This document unlocks your entry to Vietnam. Simply fill out the form online and submit it.
Pay the service fee. Make your payment online to confirm your application and secure your approval letter.
Receive your approval letter and print it. Once approved, download the letter and print it out for presentation at the airport. Additionally, prepare the following:
- A completed Vietnamese visa application form (entry-and-exit application form)
- Two passport-sized photos (4x6cm)
- Your valid passport
- Cash for the visa stamping fee
Get your visa stamped upon arrival. At the "Landing VISA (VOA)" counter in any major Vietnamese airport, present all your prepared documents to the immigration officer. They will then stamp your passport with your official visa, granting you entry into Vietnam.

Note:

Unlike Cambodia, Thailand, or Laos where visas can be obtained directly at land borders, Vietnam's visa on arrival requires pre-approval. This means you must obtain a visa approval letter before arriving at a Vietnamese airport, where you will then have your visa stamped onto your passport.

Furthermore, the Vietnam visa on arrival is only valid for air travel. If you're entering Vietnam by cruise or land, a full visa obtained in advance is necessary.

Here are some additional important points to remember:

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your entry date.
Children with their own passports are charged the same visa fee as adults.
There is no official website for the Vietnam visa on arrival service. All websites offering approval letters are operated by private agencies. Be wary of websites using misleading organizational internet domain extensions like ".org" or ".gov."
