1. MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:

Age: Be at least 18 years old.
Education: Hold a certified bachelor's degree in any field.
Visa: Possess a valid passport and appropriate visa for teaching English.
Health and background checks: Obtain a clean health certificate and criminal background check (Both can be done in Vietnam).

2. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:

With native English speakers:

TEFL certification: Complete a TEFL certificate program (a minimum of 120 hours).
Native country: Be a native speaker from the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or South Africa (preferred by most schools).

With non-native English speakers:

TEFL certification: Complete a TEFL certificate program (a minimum of 120 hours).
English proficiency: Demonstrate English proficiency through a recognized test like IELTS or TOEFL (specific score requirements may vary by school).

Additional factors that may be beneficial:

Teaching experience: Having prior teaching experience, especially in TEFL or ESL, can be a significant advantage.
Specializations: Having specialization in specific areas like business English, young learners, or test preparation can make you more competitive.
References and portfolio: Provide strong references and a portfolio showcasing your teaching skills and qualifications.

3. RECENT CHANGES:

It's important to note that in December 2023, Vietnam implemented a new program for foreigners teaching English as obtaining a training certificate issued by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET). This is in addition to the existing TEFL certification. While the details of this new requirement are still being finalized, it's advisable to stay updated on any developments.
