Vietnam welcomes migrants and provides a legal pathway for foreign families or families with a Vietnamese member to reside together in the country. This visa, known as the Dependent visa, TT visa, or family visa, enables foreign students, experts, investors, and Vietnamese citizens to bring their spouse, children, or even their parents to Vietnam.

1. WHAT IS DEPENDENT VISA ?

The Vietnam Dependent Visa, also known as the Vietnam Family Visa or TT Visa, is a visa that allows spouses and children of certain foreigners, as well as spouses, children, and parents of Vietnamese citizens, to travel to Vietnam for long-term residency.

Essentially, the eligible individuals who can sponsor their family members for a dependent visa in Vietnam include:

  • Vietnamese nationals

  • Foreigners holding a valid Vietnam visa as specified above or a corresponding temporary residence card, with the approval of the sponsoring organization or company where they are employed.

Whether you're residing abroad or already within Vietnam, obtaining a family visa, also known as a dependent visa, is a straightforward process. If you're outside Vietnam, you can apply for the visa at a Vietnamese embassy or consulate general or upon arrival at a Vietnamese airport. If you're already in Vietnam, you can convert your existing visa to a TT visa at the Vietnam Immigration Department.
